- Description: My unfiltered review of the Dream Palace Hotel in Ajman! From accessibility to the food, the spa to the swimming pool, I spill the tea (and maybe a bit of coffee) about what it's really like to stay there. Honest, quirky, and brutally real – prepare for a ride!
First Impressions & the Arrival Shuffle – Accessibility, Bless Its Heart
Right, so, let’s start with getting there. Let’s be real, airports are stressful, and after that, you want a smooth transition. The Airport Transfer was a godsend. Seriously, no faffing about trying to flag down a cab in the Arabian heat. And parking? Well, that's covered. Car Park [Free of Charge] and Car Park [On-Site] meant my stressed-out travel companion could breathe a sigh of relief. (Valet parking too, fancy-pants!)
Okay, let's talk Accessibility. Honestly, this is a big one for me (and should be for everyone!), and the Dream Palace gets a mixed bag of gold stars and…well, some head-scratching. Facilities for disabled guests were definitely present, things like elevators, which is a basic requirement, but important. Elevator! Okay, now for the messy bits: I felt the effort, things like Facilities for disabled guests were there, but at times it felt like an afterthought rather than a genuine commitment. Sigh. Accessibility can be tricky and is not often perfect in hotels, so I want the reviewers to know this nuance is important! And, while the pathways were generally wheelchair-friendly, I found myself navigating some tight corners here and there. It's workable, definitely, but Room for improvement!
Rooms: The Good, the Meh, and the "Where's That Lamp?!"
Let's get to the good stuff, and let's first talk of the rooms. Available in all rooms: Air conditioning, alarm clock, bathrobes, bathroom phone, bathtub, blackout curtains, carpeting, closet, coffee/tea maker, complimentary tea, daily housekeeping, desk, extra long bed, free bottled water, hair dryer, high floor, in-room safe box, interconnecting room(s) available, internet access – LAN, internet access – wireless, ironing facilities, laptop workspace, linens, mini bar, mirror, non-smoking, on-demand movies, private bathroom, reading light, refrigerator, safety/security feature, satellite/cable channels, scale, seating area, separate shower/bathtub, shower, slippers, smoke detector, socket near the bed, sofa, soundproofing, telephone, toiletries, towels, umbrella, visual alarm, wake-up service, Wi-Fi [free], window that opens. This is not bad at all!
My room? It was…well, spacious. The extra-long bed was a winner. Being tall can lead to a real lack of sleep but this bed was perfect. It felt like sprawling out on a cloud, and I slept hard. The blackout curtains were legendary, which meant I could truly sleep in (major points!). The private bathroom situation felt luxurious… until I fumbled around in the dark looking for the light switch. The lighting was a little…mood-lit, shall we say? At one point I think I used the bathroom phone to order a pizza.
The internet access – wireless was supposed to be free, right? Well, most of the time it was, but occasionally it’d drop out like a bad Tinder date. Internet Access – LAN was there if you were old school. Complimentary tea was a very welcome addition.
The Food Frenzy: From Buffet Bliss to "Is This a Salad?"
Food, glorious food! The Breakfast [buffet] was a beast, in the best possible way. Asian breakfast, Western breakfast, the options were enormous. I have to admit, I developed a slight addiction to the omelet station. The Buffet in restaurant was where the magic happened. I even made a friend with one of the chefs, who showed me a secret stash of… well, I'm sworn to secrecy. I felt like a food critic!
Now, the restaurants. There were several, and each offered a unique experience. The A la carte in restaurant options were divine, with plenty of Asian cuisine in restaurant and Western cuisine in restaurant. The bar was perfectly placed for that pre- or post-dinner drink. Poolside bar was a must for those sunny days! And I am here to tell you, it’s important. Coffee/tea in restaurant was available, and the coffee wasn't terrible!
The Snack bar was a lifesaver, especially for those late-night cravings. Desserts in restaurant were a sweet end to every meal. But…and here’s the kicker…the salad. Sometimes, it was a salad. Sometimes, it was a collection of leaves and a sad tomato. It was a gamble, folks. a Soup in restaurant would have been a great option also and a Vegetarian restaurant would have been a nice touch. Overall, the dining experience earns a solid B+.
Relaxation & Spa Shenanigans: Body Scrubs and Blissful Blunders
Ah, ways to relax. The Dream Palace knows how to deliver. The Spa was…a haven. Absolutely a haven. I indulged in a Body scrub, which left me feeling like a newborn baby (a very clean, exfoliated baby). The Massage was heavenly, I actually drifted off for a bit, which is rare for me. Spa/sauna was nice, and it created a relaxed moment. Steamroom was a must! The Sauna was perfect. The Pool with view was amazing!
The Swimming pool was a gorgeous setting! And the Swimming pool [outdoor] really takes center stage.
Cleanliness, Safety & the "Germ-Free" Zone: A Sanitized Sanctuary?
Cleanliness and safety is very important, especially now! The Dream Palace seemed to take this very seriously. The Anti-viral cleaning products gave me a bit of peace of mind, as did the Daily disinfection in common areas and Rooms sanitized between stays. The Hand sanitizer stations were everywhere. I did however have the Room sanitization opt-out available for when I wanted to be left alone with pizza and a movie,
The staff seemed well-trained in Staff trained in safety protocol. Safe dining setup and the Sanitized kitchen and tableware items were definite positives
Services, Conveniences & the "I Need a Mop" Moment
There are some amazing Services and conveniences:
- Air conditioning in public area - essential!
- Cash withdrawal - handy.
- Concierge - super helpful.
- Daily housekeeping - essential.
- Elevator - (again, essential).
- Facilities for disabled guests - welcome (as discussed above).
- Food delivery - never tested, but good to know.
- Ironing service - appreciated.
- Laundry service - helpful.
- Luggage storage - saved me.
Okay, the convenience store was great for snacks and essentials. The dry cleaning service did a good job of getting the sand out of my favorite shirt.
For the Kids & Family Fun
For the kids section might be important for a lot of you, so here it is: Babysitting service was available. There was also a Kids facilities and a Kids meal option was available. I did see a lot of Family/child-friendly facilities.
Getting Around: Smooth Sailing or a Sea of Confusion?
Getting around was mostly fine. The Airport transfer was great and the Taxi service and Car park [free of charge] made easy.

The Verdict: Escape to Paradise? Maybe, with a Few Caveats.
So, would I recommend the Dream Palace
Escape to Paradise: Your Private Valkenswaard Haven Awaits!Alright, buckle up, buttercups, because we're about to embark on a glorious, messy, and probably slightly caffeinated journey through my recent trip to the Dream Palace Hotel in Ajman. Prepare for a rollercoaster of emotions, questionable food choices, and the undeniable charm of a travel itinerary that's less "perfectly planned" and more "winging it with style." (Or at least, that's the goal.)
Day 1: Arrival & Immediate Panic
1:00 PM: Arrived at Dubai International Airport – and immediately regretted not packing a neck pillow. Seriously, those economy seats are the devil. The airport was a chaotic symphony of languages and duty-free perfume smells. Found my pre-booked transfer (phew!). The driver? Blast from the past. He looks like a bollywood actor with a smile for the ages, and he was driving like he was racing for a Formula 1 championship. My adrenaline levels spiked, then he started telling me his life story, which included a surprising amount of detail about his goldfish.
2:30 PM: Check-in at the Dream Palace Hotel. The building itself is… well, it's kind of a visual assault. Think "grand" meets "slightly faded glory." But hey, the lobby smelled like fresh flowers and clean money, so I wasn't complaining (yet). The actual check in was an experience on its own. I swear, it took them 20 minutes just to find my reservation. The staff was helpful but they didn't seem to be in a hurry, but it's ok, I was on vacation.
3:30 PM: Room Reveal! The King's suite, like a dream for a while! It's the size of a small apartment, with a balcony overlooking… the road. And the endless construction. Still, a massive bed, a jacuzzi tub (YAY!), and a mini-fridge that's probably seen more questionable substances than I have! Dropped my bags and immediately face-planted on that glorious bed. Jetlag is a real beast.
5:00 PM: Attempted to go to the beach. Nope. The heat hit me like a brick wall. Nope. I retreated inside, dehydrated. That's when I realized I'd forgotten my sunscreen. Epic fail.
7:00 PM: Dinner at the hotel restaurant. Ordered a pizza. It was… edible. Let's leave it at that. The view wasn't too bad, and I still had an amazing view of the construction site but the sunset was a thing of beauty.
9:00 PM: Attempted to order room service. No luck, they were out of diet coke. I guess it wasn't my destiny. Decided to use my own supply of snacks at the mini bar.
Day 2: Culture Shock (and Questionable Decisions)
8:00 AM: Woke up late, regretting my lack of sunscreen and the pizza. Went to the pool area. Found out there was a fee for the pool. I had to pay for the towels too! What a scam. But the pool was great. Maybe I should've come here yesterday instead of dying in my room.
10:00 AM: Went to the beach. Sunscreen application SUCCESS. (Learned my lesson, finally.) The water was warm, the sand was… sand-colored. It was nice to be near the sea.
12:00 PM: Lunch at a local restaurant. Discovered the joys of shawarma. I ate three. No regrets. My stomach, however, might have a different opinion.
2:00 PM: Went to a market. Haggling. I'm terrible at it. Ended up buying a slightly dented silver trinket that probably cost way too much. But the seller’s smile was so infectious.
4:00 PM: Nap time. Needed it after the heat and the shawarma. It was so relaxing.
7:00 PM: Dinner at the hotel restaurant. Tried the kebabs. Much better than the pizza. Realized I'm slowly getting used to the spice.
9:00 PM: Jacuzzi time! Bliss. Used all the bath bombs I brought. My skin felt like a mermaid's.
Day 3: One Epic Experience & the Aftermath
9:00 AM: Slept in! Woke up and headed to the hotel gym to work out because this trip has all been a mess of chaos.
10:30 AM: The main event: Dune Bashing! I booked a desert safari. OMG. First, we got picked up in a Land Cruiser, and the driver was this absolute daredevil. He drove like a Formula 1 driver! The desert was a sea of sand. The dune bashing itself was INSANE. We went up and down these massive sand dunes, screaming and laughing and feeling like we were in a movie. There were moments I was sure we were going to flip the car. It was exhilarating!
1:00 PM: After the dune bashing, we went to a Bedouin camp. Camel ride (a bit wobbly, but worth it). Traditional food, belly dancing show (those dancers are AMAZING!), and the smell of burning incense everywhere.
5:00 PM: Back to the hotel. Exhausted, covered in sand, and utterly buzzing from the experience. It was the highlight of the trip. Worth every single penny.
7:00 PM: Dinner at the hotel restaurant. I was too tired to eat much, so I skipped dinner.
8:00 PM: Passed out in the jacuzzi.
Day 4: The Slow Descent into Reality
7:00 AM: Woke up with an alarm! Started packing everything.
9:00 AM: Breakfast at the hotel. It started to feel like I was leaving.
10:00 AM: Last-minute souvenir shopping. Ended up buying some dates. They were great.
12:00 PM: Check out. Said goodbye. All the staff were nice!
1:00 PM: The drive back to the airport. This time I tried not to talk to the driver. I needed to be ready again for the long long flight back.
3:00 PM: At the airport. Waiting. Reflecting on this trip. I was tired but I also felt that rush of satisfaction for having gone!
6:00 PM: Flight time. Bye Ajman!
Post-Trip Reflections:
So, was it perfect? Hell no. Did everything go as planned? Absolutely not. Did I learn something new? Definitely. This trip was a whirlwind of chaos, unexpected joys, questionable food choices, and moments of pure, unadulterated bliss. Would I go back? Absolutely. And next time, I'm bringing extra sunscreen and a whole pack of neck pillows. Oh, and maybe learn to haggle. God, I’m going to have to learn how to haggle!
